Uncommon Love + Uncommon Timing.
This year has proven to be unpredictable and has opened our eyes to what is truly important.
Insert our beautiful couple Andre + Kristo who met over a span of 7 years ago and had planned to exchange nuptials in Jamaica. This pandemic forced their hands to reimagine their special day. It's incredibly serendipitous that I started this write up displaying Andre + Kristo's incredible ability to go with the flow of any peak or valley they encounter. Upon meeting our couple I learned Kristo had experienced some losses this year and how supported and loved she felt by her Husband-to-be. This confirmed her commitment to their union and the affirmation that she has a partner in love AND life.
I really want to drive this point home with another example. The day of our scheduled engagement session I had planned to photograph Andre + Kristo on a rooftop in the city! It was going to be perfect! I'm talking moody vibes and architectural heaven! I always go ahead of my clients and secure our location. The day of our rooftop shoot it was no different. Only this time moments before Andre + Kristo arrived the building's security informed me that photography was forbidden and asked me to leave! So I had to switch our meeting quickly.
Andre answered my call and responded with a simple "sounds good." Upon arrival at our new location I also had the honor of meeting their children Jada + Kairo. They were dressed with a complimentary collection of monochromatic colors and patterns like they had just walked right out of a magazine! You wonder why I am choosing to discuss their appearance. Well there are a myriad of reasons. But I'll settle with one. Alignment.
Although I planned extensively for our rooftop session the forced detour actually worked better with our couple's wardrobe. The aesthetic of Westside Provision's masonry and the steel of the bridge really blended well with their outfits. Because of the last minute location change we lost a bit of daylight but it resulted in the end of their session reflecting a romantically textured mood.
This session parallels to their wedding story: there were uncommon changes that had to be made but these changes will make for a captivating outcome.
